Nashville Guitarist Matt Dyar
The only way to figure out an amplifier’s true capabilities is to test it live or in a studio. Many times I’ve plugged into a back line amp and had to fight with the sound of it all night or played an amp at home only to have it not live up to expectations in live performance. This experience has made me very particular and leery of trying a new amp unfamiliar for a show, yet this was the case for Mike’s amp.
The first time I experienced the B35 was on stage in Nashville. I plugged into his amp for the first time at line check (I even brought my beloved Deluxe on stage as a backup) and after playing one note, I took the Deluxe off stage, fully comfortable in this new amp’s capabilities. An amp should not only be comfortable to the player, which the B35 is, but also needs to sonically compliment a player, too. The B35 does a perfect job of giving me all the frequencies I need and none of the ones I don’t. It’s like having a friend on stage giving you what you need even when you’re unsure. In all my years of playing, I’ve never had as many compliments on an amp from sound engineers, producers, and players as I do when I use the B35.
In addition to having a top-of-the-line boutique sound, the B35 is also extremely reliable! Whether it be touring, playing 90-minute sets or Broadway gigs lasting up to 12 hours, I never have any doubt of its reliability. Mike has poured an abundance of skill and love into these creations and it shows on every level!
